The classroom refill kit contains replacement materials that can be used with the apparatus in G3.00CK.
There are sufficient materials for ten experiments.
Carolina Biological Exploring Electrophoresis and Forensics Kits.
This technically simple experiment simulates the use of DNA in forensic investigations and, in doing so, introduces advanced concepts of PCR and DNA fingerprinting.
Students cast agarose gels, load pre-digested DNA and perform electrophoresis.
They use the banding patterns of the DNA in the gel to compare the DNA fingerprints of two suspects with evidence and victim DNA.
Gels can be run in 45 minutes with five 9V batteries or overnight with one battery.
Replacement kit includes:
- Agarose and concentrated TBE buffer
- DNA samples
- CarolinaBLU® DNA stain
- Pipette tips
- Carbon fibre electrodes.

G3.00CK - Classroom Activity Kit
The classroom activity kit contains fully illustrated instructions, five sets of apparatus and sufficient materials for ten experiments.
DNA Storage
If you are not going to use the DNA within 30 days we recommend that the DNA samples be kept in the freezer until such time as you are ready to use them.
