Histology of the Digestive System.
A collection of large photomicrographs showing clearly the various cells and tissue layers throughout the digestive system.
The four layers that make up the wall of the small intestine (duodenum) are labelled as follows: Muscularis, Submucosa, Mucosa, Villus and Lumen.
Small insets compare the stomach and colon tissue layers.
More detail is shown at greater magnification of the Villus, Muscularis and Submucosa.
Examples of epithelial cells of the oesophagus and a section of a liver lobule in the liver are displayed.
Islets of Langerhans, acinar cells and an interlobular duct are identified in the tissue taken from the pancreas.
