This hand held microtome is capable of slicing thin sections for microscopy.
It is ideal for preparing slides for introductory biology and histology.
The microtome clamps can secure objects of various sizes and shapes.
The kit includes the microtome, 2 glass plates and blade supplied in polystyrene box.
Instructions:
- Melt your paraffin by placing a small amount in a beaker, then warm the beaker by placing it in hot water.
- Once the paraffin is melted, pour it into the stem of the microtome and insert the specimen to be sectioned into the paraffin. Allow the paraffin to harden.
- Rotate the microtome knob clockwise to raise the paraffin/specimen for easy slicing. Always slice away from yourself.
- Take one or more slices from the specimen as required.
- The remaining paraffin and specimen can be easily removed from the Microtome using forceps.
