Nutrient Agar Powder is a straw-coloured free-flowing powder that produces a general purpose culture medium (1.3% agar) suitable for the cultivation of bacteria.

Notes:
- Store powder at 10-30°C in a tightly sealed container.
- To prepare nutrient agar, suspend 26g in 1L of distilled water.
- While stirring, bring to boil.
- Boil 3-5 mins.
- Sterilise by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes.
- Allow to cool to 70°C then pour into sterile plates and allow gel to set.
- Store set plates on their lids (upside down) in the fridge.
- Nutrient growth media for microbiology are only available for sale to educational institutions where satisfactory disposal facilities are in place (Refer AS2243.3).
